The History of Wellness

The concept of wellness has been present ever since Ancient Rome, Egypt, India and other civilisations. In 776 BC the Greeks held the 1st Olympic Games to celebrate and test the potential that lies within human beings.

Wellness is a healthy balance of mind, body and spirit that results in an overall feeling of health and happiness.

It has become very popular ever since the fifties when Dr. Halbert L Dunn defined wellness as “an integrated method of functioning which is oriented towards maximizing the potential of which the individual is capable”.
